Somebody asked on Facebook “What is the most important question to ask on a first date?”
Here are some of the answers:
“What shift you work?”
“Are you married?”
“Have you ever been in jail?”
“Do you believe in God?”
“What do you want for dessert?”
(Really? Before that you might want to ask “What do you want to eat?” unless you only have money for buying dessert!)
“Are you paying?”
(Good luck with that if you are a man!)
“Can I borrow 40 Dollars?”
“Can you cook?”
Wow, and I even left the ones out where people ask about sex. The truth is, most of the questions above probably came up before you guys even go on a first date. Even the one with the money, there are so many gold diggers out there and though it should be common sense, don’t send anybody any money no matter how sobby the story is (I need diapers for my kids, they are going to turn the power off, I am about to get evicted).
I think a great first question when you are finally sitting at a table somewhere is “Here we are. How are you feeling?”
It’s something that couldn’t have been answered before!
It’s an “open” question (meaning it cannot be answered with a simple “yes” or “no” – those “yes” or “no” questions only mean that the ball is in your corner again within a second!). In reaction you can share how you are feeling at this moment.
How are you feeling? My favorite first question.
