By now most people have heard about Uber Eats, DoorDash, Postmates, GrubHub, Waitr and more.
The good news is:
Yes, you can make money, actually quite a bit if you are smart about it.
You can work whenever you want (sometimes you have to schedule in advance like with DoorDash but you can still “jump in” most of the times because somebody cancelled his so called “dash).
The bad news is:
You can run into rude customers, get low or no tips (which especially sucks with Postmates where the base pay is low and customers tip AFTER getting their delivery and often they simply just don’t tip at all), even merchants (restaurants or drive through’s) can be extremely rude and unprofessional. You also might have to deal with missing items, the wrong beverage, wrong sides and other mistakes so you better check before you leave.
Customer service (for those companies) often is very unprofessional.
App issues and missing payments also lead to a lot of frustration.
Wear and tear on the car and traffic can also be very frustrating especially in bigger cities.
I have friends who work for some of those companies and they will share their experience, their earnings and some real life stories with you guys in some future posts.
Yes it works, you can make money by delivering food… but there are many things to consider
